  • Abstract: Rural production-living-ecological space is a key carrier for achieving rural revitalization and integrated urban-rural development. The involvement of multiple types of capital has driven the continuous evolution and restructuring of its spatial pattern. However, existing studies still lack sufficient understanding of the interactive restructuring mechanisms of production-living-ecological space under the influence of capital with different attributes. To address this, this article characterizes capital attributes in terms of patience, and, focusing on development-oriented and market-oriented patient capital, constructs a theoretical analytical framework in which capital with different degrees of patience interacts with governments, village collectives, farmers, and other actors to promote spatial restructuring and mutual reconfiguration. Taking Huanghu village in Wuhan as a case study, the findings are as follows: the restructuring of production-living-ecological space in Huanghu village is not a linear process, but an uneven, composite, and stage-based interactive process influenced by successive forms of capital. Development-oriented patient capital constructs spatial order through institutional building and ecological governance, while market-oriented patient capital realizes spatial value through industrial integration, jointly shaping an evolutionary path from one-way governance to multi-actor co-construction. The degree of patience determines the spatial preferences and scales of capital intervention: high-patience capital tends to favor holistic governance and small-scale renewal of living and ecological spaces, whereas low-patience capital mainly focuses on the development and utilization of production and living spaces and on large-scale reorganization. Differences in patience shape different governance models: high-patience capital emphasizes shared and collaborative governance, whereas low-patience capital tends to be enterprise-led, which may weaken villagers’ participation and lead to mismatches in spatial functions. There exists a mismatch between capital with different degrees of patience and rural governance practices. It is therefore necessary to improve the rules of capital embeddedness and collaborative governance mechanisms in order to promote the orderly restructuring and sustainable development of production-living-ecological space.
