Clarifying the impact of built environment on station ridership is the key to formulating effective measures to further improve the ridership and promote the sustainable development of urban rail transit. Taking Changsha metro as an example, aiming at the morning and evening peak alighting ridership, this paper analyzes influences of built environment factors, including traffic demand, land use, traffic connection, and station attributes, within the range of 800 m radius, 10 min walking distance and 5 min riding distance around the station. The research results show that the MGWR models considering spatial heterogeneity perform significantly better than those OLS and GWR ones, and the model with 10 min walking influence range is better than other ranges. The estimation results of MGWR models with the influence range of 10 min walking distance show that population, the number of job positions, the number of bus lines, terminals and transfer stations have significant impacts, while parking spaces have no significant impact. The findings provide theoretical support and technical reference for urban transport management departments to formulate effective measures to attract rail transit passenger flow.
